Experience the Magic

Day 1 | Arrive & Welcome

Touch down in Oaxaca and make your way into the center of town with a private airport transfer. Settle into our charming, family-owned boutique hotel in the heart of town. In the evening, we’ll gather for a warm welcome dinner, sharing our stories and excitement for the journey ahead.

Rest well - adventure begins tomorrow!

Day 2 | Strolling Through History

Step into the rhythm of Oaxaca while we wind our way through its historic streets. Explore the grand cathedral, bustling main square, and lively markets. Enjoy a local market lunch and take the afternoon to discover art galleries, museums, or a traditional chocolate shop where you can watch cacao transform into rich Oaxacan chocolate. This is a relaxed day filled with vibrant sights, sounds, and flavors.

Day 3 | A Feast for the Senses

Enjoy a leisurely morning before heading to a local farmhouse for an immersive cooking class. Under the guidance of our gracious hosts, we will get an education about special Oaxacan ingredients followed by cooking traditional dishes like mole, handmade tortillas, salsas, Oaxacan cheese and chocolate. Alongside the feast, we’ll taste artisanal mezcal and browse handmade ceramics and local food items available for purchase.

Day 4 | Traditions & Ancient Ruins

We are picked up in this morning by our guides who transport us to the historic town of Mitla. Here, we’ll take part in a Zapotec traditional hands-on altar-building experience in preparation for Día de los Muertos, followed by a lunch with an antiques collector, then tour the unique ruins in town. The journey continues to a women's co-op in the weaving village where we learn about plants used for natural dyes and traditional medicine. We close the day with a very unique and special ceremony led by a local medicine woman.

Day 5 | The Spirit of Día de los Muertos

As the city comes alive with vibrant preparations, today is yours to explore at your own pace. Wander through the colorful streets, visit art studios, shop for handcrafted treasures, or indulge in a massage. In the evening, we come together to experience the magic of a local cemetery after dusk, where families gather to honor loved ones with candles, foods, and heartfelt traditions. A printed list of recommendations will be provided to help you make the most of the day.

Day 6 | The Main Celebration

Día de los Muertos unfolds in all its splendor! Follow the energy of the city as parades, costumes, face+body painting, and elaborate altars fill the streets. This is a day to embrace spontaneity and soak in the spirit of the festival. The main square hosts an evening of performances with a world-wide audience. The spirit of Día de los Muertos is palpable around every corner of the city.

Day 7 | Markets & Memories

Spend the day exploring Oaxaca’s vibrant markets and boutiques - whether festival-specific or daily staples - hunting for last-minute treasures. Museums, botanical garden, and other cultural gems are also at your fingertips. We’ll gather in the afternoon for a relaxed garden setting lunch at a beloved local spot.

Day 8 | Hidden Gems & Farewell Gathering

Venture beyond the city for a final adventure, visiting a breathtaking natural swimming hole, nibbles at a restaurant with infinite natural views (owned by a former Legislator who is one of the few woman Mezcal producers), followed by a charming nearby town to witness the wisdom of a highly regarded tree in Mexico. Back in the city, we reconvene for our last evening for a special farewell gathering and dinner, reflecting on the unforgettable moments we’ve shared.

Day 9 | Until Next Time

With hearts full, memories, and new friendships made, it’s time to say hasta luego.

Private airport transfers will be provided for a smooth departure.

Why Día de los Muertos?

Día de los Muertos is one of the most extraordinary times to visit Mexico -especially Oaxaca. People from around the world and across Mexico gather here to experience the city’s vibrant energy, deep-rooted traditions, and breathtaking celebrations.

I dreamt of witnessing this time of year since I was a child, captivated by images of Oaxaca’s colorful altars, costumes, candlelit cemeteries, and the heartfelt tributes to loved ones who have passed.

Loss is a universal part of life, and grief can be difficult to navigate. Honoring loved ones who have passed, through remembrance, ritual, and celebration, is a powerful way to find healing. The traditions of Día de los Muertos offer a unique perspective on life and death, one that transforms sorrow into a beautiful and meaningful tribute to the spirits that continue to live within us.

Single Suite - Double Bed

The Single Suites at our hotel are uniquely decorated and cozy places of rest. Both are on the second floor and open to an indoor atrium. Fans+AC

Two available: $3,450 per person

Junior Suite- Queen Bed

There are two Junior Suites, one with a balcony overlooking the courtyard and one on the rooftop terrace with a view of the main cathedral. Fans+AC

Two available: $3,750 per person

King Suite - King bed

One king bed suite is available on the rooftop terrace with double doors opening to the relaxing setting and a city center view. Fans+AC

One available: $3,950

Double Suite - 2 queen beds

Each of the double suites provides a different energy, one with a balcony to the courtyard and one interior room which is quiet and cozy. Fans+AC

Balcony room: $3,500 per person

Interior room: $3,200 per person
